And you can always teach Answr directly in plain language on WhatsApp (for example: "shipping is 2–4 business days" or "we don't do refunds on discounted items"), so you're not forced to formalize everything into documents or rules. Sources aren't treated as truth automatically; Answr is built to rely on confirmed business knowledge and to ask when something should become "official."

For testing and simulation: Regular WhatsApp is perfectly fine. You can set up, train, and test Answr with your regular WhatsApp number.

For going live with real customers: Yes, you'll need a WhatsApp Business number (which is free through Meta). Once you feel confident after testing, you connect the business number and Answr starts answering customers.

Yes. You can keep using the WhatsApp Business app as you normally do and Answr will coexist with you. If you jump into a conversation and reply as the owner, Answr stays silent in that thread for the configured mute window (12 hours by default), so it won't compete with you or confuse the customer. You can change the window — or disable it entirely — by telling Answr in WhatsApp.

Answr can tell the difference between customer messages and personal conversations, and will handle only messages that come from customers. You can also exclude specific phone numbers at any time - once excluded, Answr won't see or handle messages from those numbers.

Yes — you control the timing entirely, in plain language on WhatsApp. By default Answr replies to customers immediately, but you can switch to:

A delay — "wait 10 minutes before replying", "reply after half an hour" — so responses feel more human-paced or give you a window to step in first.

A time window — "only reply Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm", "don't reply on weekends" — replies are queued and sent only during the hours you specify, in your local time.

You can also adjust the mute window that kicks in when you reply to a customer yourself (12 hours by default): "stay quiet for an hour after I reply", "pause for two days", or "stop pausing after I reply" to disable it entirely. Switch back to immediate replies any time with "reply immediately" or "remove the schedule." Changes take effect right away.
